Richmondshire’s leisure provision is
to be mapped through a major audit kicking off in the new
year.
Active Richmondshire is to survey the
population of Richmondshire and the facilities within it to not
only map out all the activities taking place in the district but
find out when local people would like to see taking place within
their communities.
It will cover everything from community
centres and village halls to the larger leisure centres. And
it will aim to support all of the facilities that take part by
promoting activities currently taking place and supporting them to
set up new activities across the district.
“This audit will provide the first ever
complete picture of both facilities and population demand so that a
working physical activity strategy for all communities within the
district is established and the population get what they want in
their local communities,” said Richmondshire’s Sports Development
Co-ordinator, Matt Prosser.
“It will not only provide these communities
with better opportunities for physical activity but also support
them to host these events, increase their usage and help sustain
them through hard economic times.
“This survey will give us a full understanding
of what the communities in Richmondshire really want to see taking
place – we urge people to have their say and we will do all we can
so that they can have what they want.”
