Young people in Richmondshire can have
a go at being a firefighter this summer.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service -
supported by the Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership - is
running two ‘Inspire’ courses at Colburn Fire Station.
The course will aim to address fire safety and
anti-social behaviour issues in relation to young people and the
local communities they live in. Firefighters will work
with young people aged 10 to 18.
“These courses aim to address the problems of
young people, particularly those who have offended, are at risk of
offending or have been victims of crime,” said Chris Fields, Senior
Community Safety Officer.
“We also wish to address the causes of
anti-social behaviour and prevent young people from becoming
persistent offenders by providing an intense work experience within
a tightly structured and focused team environment.”
Any agency or individual can refer a young
person for these courses – contact Donna Sowden (Richmondshire
Community Fire Officer) on 01748 829971 for more information.
The courses take place on July 28 and 29 and
August 25 and 26 from 8.30am – 4pm.
