Young
people across Hambleton and Richmondshire have the chance to train
as firefighters this summer.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service – in
partnership with Hambleton and Richmondshire Community Safety
Partnership and North Yorkshire Police - is running two ‘Inspire’
courses at Colburn Fire Station.
Firefighters will work with young people from
10 to 18 to address issues of fire safety and anti-social behaviour
and provide practical fire fighting and first aid training, with
the aim of making the young people an inspiration to their peers
and the communities they live in.
“We will also address the causes of
anti-social behaviour and prevent young people from becoming
persistent offenders by providing an intense work experience within
a tightly structured and focused team environment,” said Kate
Davies, Community Safety Officer.
For more information or to refer a young
person onto this course, contact Kate Davies, Hambleton and
Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership, on 01748 827178 or

The courses take place on August 11 and
12 and 18 and 19 from 8.30am – 4pm. Breakfast and lunch
is included.
