A public consultation about Richmond's Yorke Square car park has generated hundreds of responses.
The consultation involved posters, comment cards, a dedicated website. The Council also worked with the Save Our Shire group to stage a major consultation event, at The Station, in Richmond, which attracted more than 100 people.
There were over 300 responses – and these have all now been made public on the Council's website, richmondshire.gov.uk/yorkesquare. Contributions ranged from brief, one-word answers, to letters of up to four pages long. One comment was even written entirely in German – but fortunately a German-speaking Council officer was able to translate it!
The consultation process followed a Richmondshire District Council decision to collate a range of options for Yorke Square's future as a community resource. Council officers are now working to use the results of the consultation to draw up such a list. This will form part of a report to the Council's Strategy Board on September 9.
