Richmond Swimming Pool celebrated its
35th birthday in style last weekend – with an open day
and the cutting of a spectacular cake.
More than 500 people enjoyed a day of free
activities on Sunday May 15.
They included swim-a-song and stroke
development sessions; aquaplay; aqua disco; swimfit;and competitive
diving classes in the water.
At the neighbouring Liberty Health Club –
which is also operated through the Richmondshire Leisure Trust –
there were Zumba taster sessions, indoor curling, boxercise and
personal training taster classes.
And through the day there were also sessions
in boccia, wheelchair basketball, face painting, arts and crafts
and pottery as well as displays by the Richmond School Circus
Club.
And throughout the day donations were taken to
support three charities - the Meningitis Trust, the Wooden Spoon
and Help for Heroes. £300 was raised for the charities.
Chair of Richmondshire District Council,
Councillor Yvonne Peacock cut the birthday cake - made by Hawes
Cake Craft.
