Richmond Swimming Pool celebrates 35
years in the business this weekend.
And it is inviting customers old and new to
join in the party fun at a free open day on Sunday (May 15) – and
help to cut the birthday cake.
The Richmondshire Leisure Trust run pool will
be open to a wide range of aquatic activities - from swim-a-song
and aquaplay for the youngsters to aqua disco, swimfit and kayaking
taster sessions for the older visitors.
Next door at the Liberty Health Club – which
has recently come under the banner of the Leisure Trust - is
running a range of taster sessions including one in the newest
fitness craze, Zumba. There will also be sessions in
boxercise, Abs Blast and indoor curling.
And outside members of the Burst Club – which
offers activities for children throughout the school holidays -
will be showing off its range of multi-sport activities to give
youngsters a taste of what they get up to on the
camps.
And Yoodo Sport will be launched - which aims
to engage with disabled adults, and those with a long term health
condition who haven’t been active for a long time.
“Everybody deserves the opportunity to get
involved in sport and physical activity and Yoodo Sports is a very
worthwhile cause and we are very proud to get involved,” said
Sports Development Coordinator, Matt Prosser.
“The pool has come a long way in its 35 years
and we hope to see lots of familiar faces – as well as new faces –
at our special birthday party.”
There will also be face painting, raffle, army
climbing wall and locally made ice cream to sample.
