Thousands of Richmondshire residents are going to the polls next month to elect district and parish councillors.

30 District Council seats in 20  wards are up for grabs –  64 candidates are vieing for those seats.

Only four seats are uncontested: Addlebrough – Yvonne Peacock, Hornby Castle – Melva Steckles, Lower Wensleydale – Keith Loadman and Middleham – Rachel Allen.

There will also be elections for parish councillors in four parishes (subject to no candidate withdrawing). And every elector gets the chance to have their say in the yes/ no referendum on alternative voting systems for general elections.

The district’s Polling Stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday May 5.

Votes will be counted on Friday May 6 with all results posted on this website

  • Anyone wanting to register to vote on May 5 – or needs a postal vote – has until April 14 to apply.  Contact the Richmondshire elections office on  01748 827096
