Eight community and voluntary projects
within the parishes of Colburn, Hipswell and Scotton have been
awarded a share of £11,000.
The Garrison Community Partnership has made
grants to projects which support everything from sport, the
elderly, groups representing vulnerable people and a community
garden.
The 1st Catterick Garrison
Scout Group gets £2,000 to help with the purchase of outdoor and
camping equipment; the Colburn Credit Union was awarded £1,000 and
£1,600 goes to the Colburn Sports and Recreation Centre for its
weekend Kidz Club.
The Partnership also awarded grants to the
Empowering Disabled People project (£900); the St John’s Centre -
for cold frames for the community garden (£1400); a project to
refurbish the tennis court at Hipswell (£1500); an Assisted
Shopping Scheme run by the St John’s Centre (£1600) and to Scotton
Parish Council for improvements to the village hall playing fields
(£1600).
“All these community projects are worthy
recipients of these grants – they are all doing great jobs to
improve life for the people living in and around the district,”
said Chair of the Partnership, Councillor Helen Grant.
