Landlords across Hambleton and
Richmondshire are being urged to warm up their properties with free
cavity wall and loft insulation.
They have all been offered free surveys as part
of a partnership between the two District Councils and Cosyseal
Insulation. Following that survey free cavity wall and
loft insulation may be available to privately rented properties,
subject to certain terms and conditions.
Through the Government’s Housing Health and
Safety Rating System (HHSRS) legislation, landlords have a
responsibility to ensure tenants are able to live in properties
that will not harm their health or jeopardize their safety.
Excess cold is one of the most common hazards
found in rented accommodation and can be a particular issue for
older dwellings that may not be well insulated or lack modern
heating systems. Ideally, properties should be provided with
adequate thermal insulation and a suitable and effective means of
space heating which can economically maintain a reasonable
temperature.
Landlords who have not received a letter or need
further information should contact the Housing Delivery and
Improvement Team on 01748 828754 or
