Richmondshire residents are being encouraged to travel by bus next week for free!

Bus passes to use on the district’s first ‘Car Free Day’ next Friday – April 1 – are still available.

Bus companies Arriva, Dales and District – as well as those run through the Little Red Bus Community scheme – are each providing 20 free individual and family passes.  The passes  will allow travel on all scheduled services, as well as demand responsive services from Little Red Bus.

‘Car Free Day’ is part of Richmondshire Eco Week which is being organised for the first time by the Richmond Local Strategic Partnership.  Events will take place throughout the week to highlight ways to save money on fuel and energy - and cut carbon emissions.    There will be demonstrations of electric bikes and a fuel efficient driving simulator to test.

And everyone taking part in the day is being asked to complete a pledge form.

To apply for a bus pass log on to http://www.richmondshireecoweek.co.uk/ or call Richmondshire District Council on 01749 829100 by midday on March 28.

Full details of Eco Week – from March 26 to April 3 – are available from http://www.richmondshireecoweek.co.uk/ or from Community Offices in Richmond, Reeth, Leyburn, Colburn and Hawes; Tourist Information Centres and libraries.
