Community safety experts are touring Richmondshire the area handing out useful advice on driving during the winter months.
Members of Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership, North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, North Yorkshire County Council Road Safety Officer and the Highways Agency will be on hand to offer information and advice and give away free winter drive packs.
They will also be reiterating the partnerships key points to remember when the bad weather takes over:
- Plan journeys, ensuring you tell someone where you are going
- Allow plenty of extra time to allow for the weather conditions
- Remember it can take up to ten times longer to stop your vehicle in the ice and snow
- Drive safely and to the road conditions, your capabilities and speed limits.
The roadshows take place between 10am and 1pm in the market places at:
Reeth Thursday February 18 Thursday March 4
Leyburn Friday February 19 Friday March 5
Hawes Monday February 22 Thursday March 11
Richmond Saturday February 27 Friday March 12
Winter driving packs are also available at the Richmondshire District Council Community Offices in Richmond, Colburn, Reeth, Leyburn and Hawes. And a radio campaign is running on Fresh FM.
