Hambleton and Richmondshire residents
are being urged to make sure they have the right to vote in next
year’s local elections.
This month every household should have
received a white ‘canvass form’ addressed to the occupier - but
many have not been returned.
The forms are used to compile the new
electoral registers that will be the basis for next year’s
elections. By completing and returning this form voters make
sure they will be able to have their say.
If householders have no changes to make, the
information can be returned electronically – via the internet,
freephone or text as security codes are provided on the forms to
access these methods. The form does not need to be returned
by post when confirming details these ways.
However if changes are needed - if residents
need to be added or removed or a resident does not wish to use the
electronic methods - the form can be returned by post in the
envelope provided or delivered to any council office.
Canvass reminder forms will be sent out at
the end of the month and canvassers will make home visits where no
response has been received in October.
Anyone needing help completing the form – or
who hasn’t received a canvass form should contact:
Hambleton District Council’s Customer Services
unit on 0845 1211 555, elecreg@hambleton.gov.uk
or www.hambleton.gov.uk/electoralregister;
or Richmondshire District Council’s helpline on 01748 827096 or
