A
specialist embroidery business has relocated from Kent to Reeth –
to set up home in a Dales based craftyard.
The Nutmeg Company has moved into the
Richmondshire District Council side of the Reeth Dales
Centre.
The authority’s five stand alone craft spaces
were developed eight years ago as an extension to six other craft
units which are now owned privately.
The Nutmeg Company joins a furniture maker,
artist, glass designer and interior designer.
Set up in 1994 by Meg and Mike Evershed, it
specialises in 3D cross stitch pieces and kits for making miniature
houses, Christmas decorations, keepsake boxes and
cards.
Meg turned her needlecraft hobby into a
business once her two daughters were old enough for her to return
to work.
“We have always loved the Dales and wanted to
live here after holidaying in the area for the last 20 years,” said
Meg (pictured).
“When we saw the Reeth unit was available we
could resist no longer – we decided to take the plunge and move the
business. It’s a great location and very handy for all the northern
based exhibitions we attend!”
