Community transport around
Northallerton and the surrounding villages will be in the spotlight
later this month.
Local people are being urged to go along to
the annual general meeting of the Northallerton and Villages
Community Forum to have a say on current provision – and suggest
possible future options.
They will hear from members of community
transport groups in the district – the Hambleton and Richmondshire
Rural Transport and Access Partnership, North Yorkshire County
Council Integrated Passenger Transport group, and the Northallerton
Rails Users group will all be represented.
The meeting – the forum’s sixth AGM – is being
held at the Mencap Centre in Northallerton from 5.30pm on September
27.
It will also provide local people with the
chance to find out what the forum has been up to over the last 12
months and what projects are currently underway. And
they will be able to help identify future priorities.
The meeting will also include a workshop on
how to cut costs and carbon emissions from transport. It will cover
fuel-efficient driving, buying a greener car, and how use the car
less. The Yorkshire Energy Partnership’s smarter driving
simulator will also be there.
It is one of a series of workshops being held
as part of the York and North Yorkshire Green Neighbourhood
Challenge energy saving programme (http://www.greenneighbourhood.co.uk/).
Anyone attending two workshops will qualify for half price loft and
cavity wall insulation.
The Forum, established in 2002, is one of ten
community partnerships across Hambleton & Richmondshire which
seek to identify and respond to local needs and aspirations in
order to improve economic, social and environmental
well-being.
