Wannabe pop stars from Richmondshire battled it out in an ‘X Factor’ Style event last month.

The ‘Community Idol’ competition funded by Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership and organised by the Richmondshire Safer Neighbourhood Team saw nine acts from Richmond, Risedale and Wensleydale schools take to the stage.

The winning act was Tilly May Harris soloist from Wensleydale School who won a half day in a recording studio.  Runner up was soloist Chloe Robinson also from Wensleydale School and third place were guitarists and singers Ben Bason and Ian Featherstone from Richmond School.

Sitting on the panel of judges were Kate Davies, of Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership; Melva Steckles, Deputy Leader of Richmondshire District Council and Austin Orton of Leyburn Business Association;  Warwick Mead of Garrison Radio was compare.

PCSO’s Mary Hoss from Leyburn, Caroline Pugh from Richmond and Di Smith from Colburn worked hard to make the event a great success.
