Christmas shopping officially starts
in Richmondshire’s two tourist information centres this
month.
The Richmond and Leyburn offices will be
opening their annual ‘Cards for Good Causes’ Christmas shops on
October 6.
The centres are part of a national network of
shops stocking Christmas cards which will benefit more than 30
major charities. By being able to keep operating
costs low, charities receive at least 75p in every £1 from the card
sales - in the past five years charities have received more than
£20 million through them.
The charities include: Action for children;
Age UK; Alzheimer’s Society; Arthritis Research UK; Barnardo’s;
British Heart Foundation; and Cancer Research UK.
The shops are open Monday to Saturday from
9.30am until 4.30pm.
