Former Chairman of Richmondshire District Council, Councillor Helen Grant, has handed over £1691 to charity.

During her year in office, Councillor Grant held a civic dinner and organised folk nights to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and The Foundation of the Study of Infant Deaths (FSiD). In addition Councillor Peter Wood chose not to receive his spokespersons allowance and donated the £750 to the two charities.

- This year’s council chairman, Councillor Yvonne Peacock, wants to help people who suffer from debilitating illnesses and has chosen Multiple Sclerosis Society (Dales Branch) and the Alzheimer’s Society (Dales Dermentia Carer Support Service) as her charities. In addition to civic events she is hoping to hold evening coffee functions in the Dales.
