A final pot of cash is up for grabs by
community groups looking to improve sporting provision for young
people.
Groups in Richmondshire and Hambleton have
been allocated £47,000 from the ‘Sports Unlimited’ fund to run
everything from Street Dance to Dodgeball sessions.
The funding gives clubs, schools and community
facilities the chance to offer young people ten week taster
sessions in sports they have requested - and when the sessions are
over encourage them to join clubs and continue with the sport.
Nationally it is hoped that at the end of the
three year programme 900,000 more youngsters will have access a
vast range of sports
Leisure officers at Hambleton and
Richmondshire District Councils want to hear from any clubs or
community facilities in need of financial help to increase the
opportunities for activities they currently offer to the 5 -19 age
group. This can include requests for coaching, equipment,
venue hire, advertising and printing, travel expenses and
training.
Applications must be submitted by October
