Thirteen community schemes are to
receive a share of almost £8,000 after members of a Richmondshire
partnership earmarked their priorities.
The District Council’s Central Area
Partnership Board has allocated grants to everything from an
assisted shopping scheme, sporting and music events to the
replacement of security cameras.
The Partnership is one of five for the
district each with a budget of £10,000 to allocate to local
projects. It takes in Richmond town, Bolton on Swale,
Brompton on Swale, Hornby, Brough with St Giles, Catterick, Easby,
East and West Appleton, Ellerton on Swale, Scorton, Tunstall and
Uckerby.
The schemes winning cash awards are:
- Farmers Arms Scorton FC - £400
- St Johns Assisted Shopping/ Alternative Day Service - £500
- Empowering Disabled People - £780
- Transport subsidy for local people to facilitate employment -
£600

“All these schemes are providing care and
support in our communities – whether to young people through an
after school club or to older people through the assisted shopping
scheme,” said Partnership Chair, Councillor Stuart Parsons.
“Some of the grants may only be small but they
can make a huge difference to the lives of people in Richmondshire
– we look forward to seeing all the schemes reaching fruition.”
There are also partnerships for North
Richmondshire, the Upper Dales, the Garrison and Lower Wensleydale
- they meet every six months to debate local issues and
concerns.
