Hambleton and Richmondshire District
Council’s shared service work has been recognised in a regional
award scheme.

And the authority’s Chief Executive, Peter
Simpson, took a prize for his leadership and contribution to local
government in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The Local Government Yorkshire and Humber
Making a Difference Awards celebrate workers and front line staff
from councils, police, fire and national park authorities who have
gone the extra mile to make a difference to the lives of local
people.
The councils took the award for collaborative
and partnership working for the approach to shared services – an
approach which is on line to make savings of around £2million when
fully implemented.
“Hambleton and Richmondshire District Councils
are setting the bar for shared services in the region – it is a
route others will follow,” said Leader of Hambleton, Councillor
Neville Huxtable.
And Councillor Fleur Butler, Leader of
Richmondshire added: “The value of this type of partnership is now
showing the results we anticipated.”
Receiving his personal award, Peter Simpson
said it came out of the blue and is very humbling to receive - he
paid tribute to all the employees and councillors who he said are
the real award winners for putting in so much effort and hard work
on behalf of communities.
“To be recognised for our work is a great
tribute to all involved and great to be a part of,” he said
