Website statistics success

FRANCE, Australia, India and even Barbados – just some of the countries where users have logged on to Richmondshire District Council's new website.

More than 3,000 people visited richmondshire.gov.uk, in the first two weeks of January alone.

New statistics show 3,622 unique users visited the site between January 1 and January 14. The vast majority were from the United Kingdom, but there were also hundreds of visitors from the United States and other foreign countries.

Richmondshire District Council launched its new-look website in November, and since then traffic has been steadily rising. Tuesday, January 8, was the busiest day so far, with 538 visits in a single day.

One of the most popular pages over the Christmas period was the changes to the refuse collection times. Meanwhile, the New Year has seen a big increase in people logging in to view planning applications online.

Councillor John Robinson, Member Champion for Community Engagement, said: "It's vitally important that we as a Council are open and accessible to all our residents, and the website is a very good way of communicating with them.

"It's excellent to see that more and more people are logging on – for example, you can pay your bills online and access important information about Council services, helping you with your everyday life."
