Leyburn Tourist Information Centre
passes "mystery shopping" test with flying colours
VISITORS to Leyburn's Tourist Information Centre (TIC) are
getting top quality advice and information – and that's
official!
The TIC scored 92 per cent in a "mystery shopping" exercise,
well above the Yorkshire average of 87.1 per cent.
The TIC, run by Richmondshire District Council, was tested by a
telephone call, an email enquiry and a personal visit – all
unannounced. The investigators were so impressed, they gave marks
of 100 per cent in categories including "staff interaction", "staff
appearance", "TIC appearance", "cleanliness", "environment" and
more! The response to the phone call – which was an enquiry about
things to see and do in the area, and places to stay for a weekend
visit – was so good, it was also rated at 100 per cent.
The customer service review is conducted twice a year by
Yorkshire Tourist Board and Visit Britain.
TIC manager Joy Healy said: "These brilliant results are a
credit to our staff and volunteers. We can only give such a high
standard of service because of the wonderful people who all work
together as one team, dedicated to helping visitors get the most
out of their trip to Leyburn!"
Councillor Fleur Butler, Richmondshire District Council ward
member for Leyburn and spokesperson for Prosperous Communities,
said: "This is fantastic news, both for the TIC staff and
volunteers, and for Leyburn's tourist industry. This excellent
score proves that all visitors can be sure that they will get top
quality advice and information to help them enjoy their stay
here."
The results follow a plea for more volunteers to help out at the
TIC over the busy summer season.
