Team work reaps rewards at Richmondshire District
Council where two sets of workplace double acts have been
recognised for their efforts by receiving the Chairman’s Excellence
in Performance Award.
Julie-Ann Thompson and Andy Turner from the Environment Unit
have worked tirelessly to ensure the implementation of the
Council’s new alternate weekly collection service for household
waste and recyclables. In particular they were praised for
their commitment and professionalism whilst travelling round the
District on an 11 date awareness raising roadshow tour, and keeping
on top of their regular office work.
Delivery Officer Tracey Simpson teamed up with Accountancy
Assistant Ricky Weaver to secure £400,000 worth of funding to
develop the “Richmond Heritage Partnership Scheme”. Working
through a maze of funding criteria, deadlines and budget
restrictions, their determination and expertise has helped initiate
a three year pilot project to improve the commercial heart of the
town.
“These awards go some way to publicly recognising the hard
work, often outside of office hours, and dedication of our staff”,
says Council Chairman, Councillor Jill McMullon,
pictured above with Julie-Ann and Andy. “The team work
demonstrated here has brought about new initiatives and has ensured
results have been achieved to a really high standard.”
Dawn Russell, a newly promoted member of the Administration
team was also rewarded for taking on extra responsibility and
workload at a time of staff shortages at the Council’s Gallowfields
depot.
