Help Compile Accessible Venue List

Help Compile Accessible Venue List

Richmondshire District Council is compiling a database of accessible meeting places and needs residents’ suggestions for venues to be included on the list.

“It is very important that everyone is able to attend meetings throughout the District, regardless of their physical health, or any special need”, explains Member Champion for disability issues, Councillor Linda Curran.  “By creating this database we can make sure we are as inclusive as possible when choosing venues and planning for public meetings, exhibitions or information events.”

Parish Councils, village hall committees and pub landlords with function rooms can put their venues forward for inclusion on the list.  A simple audit will then follow to check compliance, measured against factors such as access to the building, toilet facilities and car parking.

If you would like to suggest a venue, please contact Tom Stirling on 01748 829100, or e-mail comms@richmondshire.gov.uk
