Village halls and community buildings are to get a
helping hand to implement energy saving ideas.
Richmondshire District Council has launched a pilot project
offering a limited number of grants of up to £1000. They are
available to projects designed to help reduce energy consumption,
improve energy efficiency, and minimise impact on the
environment.
“The grants can be used to support either a package of
measures, or installation of renewable technology”, explains Policy
Officer, Helen Harper. “This could include the fitting of
loft or cavity wall insulation, energy saving lighting, timber
framed double glazing, or an efficient boiler system. If the
building already has these features, a project to extend its energy
efficiency, such as fitting solar panels, would be
considered.”
An energy survey by the Yorkshire Rural Community Council will
help identify the needs or requirements of individual buildings,
and preference will be given to applications where such a survey
has been carried out.
The closing date for applications is 19th February
next year. For more information on the grants, or application
process, call Helen Harper on 01748 829100, e-mail
