BT Payphones consultation

We have recently undertaken two rounds of public consultation on BT’s proposed programme of public payphone removals.

Having compiled the responses received in the first phase of the consultation, we produced a draft decision notice regarding the proposed removals, and asked for additional comments.
 
The second phase of consultation ended on August 27, 2008. We have now published our final notification and sent it to the Secretary of State and BT. It objects to the removal of 24 phone boxes (the four that we have not objected to are marked above with an asterisk).

Notification under section 49
Decision by Richmondshire District Council in response to a proposal by British Telecommunications plc/Kingston Communications (Hull) plc] for the removal of public call boxes pursuant to Part 2 of the Schedule to a Direction published by Ofcom on 14 March 2006 (‘the Direction’).
Letter to the Secretary of State – final notification
Section 50(1)(b) of the Act requires Richmondshire District Council to send to the Secretary of State a copy of every notification published under section 49 of the Act. A copy of the Final Notification is enclosed herewith.
