Businesses in Richmondshire are being offered the chance to benefit from thousands of pounds worth of funding, as part of a new grants scheme launched today (May 1).
Richmondshire District Council is asking for applications for a new Business Grant Scheme, designed to help local businesses grow, boost their competitiveness and create job opportunities.
The Council consulted with Business Associations across the district in drawing up the criteria and objectives of the scheme, which will provide grants of up to £5,000 to small and medium-sized businesses within the Richmondshire area.
Councillor Jimmy Wilson-Petch, Member Champion for Business, Economic and Rural Affairs, said: "The aim of this scheme is for businesses in Richmondshire to grow and prosper, offering a variety of employment opportunities. They must also be able to adapt to local, national and international economic conditions.
"We want local people to have the option of earning and spending their salaries within Richmondshire, and to attract businesses from beyond our borders. The Business Grant Scheme will help to support a broad base of thriving businesses to boost the vitality of our market towns and rural communities."
Any SME (small medium enterprise) located anywhere in Richmondshire can apply for up to 50 per cent of a given project's cost, up to a maximum grant contribution of £5,000. Applications will be appraised on their individual merits, on a first come, first served basis.
Application forms can be completed online, at richmondshire.gov.uk, or are available from the Council's Economic Development team on 01748 829100.
