A grant scheme that has injected more than £120,000 into small Richmondshire businesses over the last four years has opened for its next round of allocations.
The Small Business Grant Scheme has another £30,000 in the pot - to support local businesses and economic growth.
In the 12 months to March, 36 schemes were supported, bringing the total over the four years to 142 – with grants going towards everything from IT and computer purchases to website support and training courses. And the initiative has generated another £131,000 in match funding.
The cash will initially be split into five pots, relating to the five areas of Richmondshire - Central, Garrison, Lower Wensleydale, North Richmondshire and Upper Dales - with each area having £6,000 to allocate. Any unallocated funds will be placed in a central pot after the first three months and will be available to any business to bid for.
Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Threlfall, said: “These grants may only be small amounts of cash but they are making a big difference to businesses around the district. We want to help all businesses – the £1000 can give them a vital boost and help them fulfil their potential.”
