A series of recycling roadshows raised £135 for Richmondshire charities.
Members of the District Council’s waste and street scene raised the cash with three raffles at the Muker, Reeth and Wensleydale shows – with prizes donated by local businesses and those that work with the authority.
The team were at the shows to promote the new recycling service launched this week as part of national Recycle Week – the council is now collecting all plastics (except black), cardboard and paper, glass, cartons and textiles at the kerbside.
The money raised has been added to the Chairman of the Council’s charity pot – every year the civic leader helps their chosen charities. This year Councillor Angie Dale will be donating to the Great North Air Ambulance, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Catterick, Richmond and Colburn Community Libraries (CRACCL) and the Friends of Garget Walker House.
Prizes were donated by Campbells of Leyburn, Dawsons Sweepers, Dennis Eagle, Reeth Village Stores, , SFS, Spedian, Tikspac and Truck Technics.
