PAYMENT HITCHES FOR GREEN WASTE SUBSCRIBERS

Richmondshire District Council has received a small number of queries from customers who have not been able to pay their green waste subscription via the Council’s website using a credit or debit card.
The Council recently upgraded its on-line payment system to make payments easier and more secure. Additional security measures have been introduced by the major credit and debit card companies, requiring additional authentication – known as “3D Secure” – by card users.
Where credit or debit cards are not enrolled as “3D secure” with the card provider these payments are not being accepted on the Council’s website.
Councillor Tony Duff, Waste and Street Scene Spokesperson, explains “this is all about increasing security and protecting people against online card fraud which is to be welcomed. However, we fully understand that this has created payment problems for a small number of customers who use a card, which is not enrolled as 3D Secure with their provider. We wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this issue and stress that we value every single green waste subscription customer – we know the service is valued and we want to keep all our customers”.
“Our IT and Customer teams are working hard to make this new requirement clear for our website users. If subscribers are struggling to make a payment via their credit or debit card please contact our Customer Services team on 01748n 829100 who will be able to take payments and advise customers on how to enrol their credit card for “3D Secure”
