What responsibilities you have as a tenant and what
the council’s responsibilities are
When you become a tenant of the council you
will sign a tenancy agreement. This agreement outlines the
responsibilities your landlord has and your responsibilities as a
tenant. All tenants are required to meet the conditions of
tenancy as outline in the Tenancy Agreement. Failure to do
this can result in the council taking action against your tenancy
which can ultimately result in the loss of you home.
All new tenants will initially be given an
Introductory Tenancy. Once you have completed a
satisfactory probation period of 12 months which can be extended by
a further 6 months if the council feels this is necessary, you will
be offered a
Secure Tenancy for your home.
