Register of Interests
I am an Independent Councillor and represent Richmond Central Ward.
I have lived in Richmond for the last 25 years and lived in the area all my life. I have been married to my husband Paul since 1993 and have two teenage daughters, one at Richmond School and one in further education. I have over my working career worked as a care assistant, sales assistant and ran my own business doing sewing and alterations. For the last 11 years I have worked at Richmond Methodist primary school and am a HLT assistant/Advanced TA. I work with young children 4 to 5 years of age which is such a rewarding job and no two days are the same.
I have been a Town Councillor since May 2015 and represent Richmond West Ward.
I became interested in the District Council through my sister who has served for 4 years and is on her second term. Out of interest I attended lots of meetings and decided I would like to represent Richmond and Richmondshire as an Independent Councillor as I strongly believe that at a district level it should be about what is best for Richmond and Richmondshire and not party politics. I am very community focussed and get involved with organising and running a lot of community events.
I love crafting particularly card making as I can relax and immerse myself in creativity. I also love to teach my crafting to others. I enjoy walking, cooking and gardening. I am a skilled seamstress and for the last 3 years have nearly finished a sampler patchwork quilt!
I am in a local amateur dramatic group and have been in lots of pantomimes and also singing shows - oh yes I have!
I like to think of myself as very approachable and am happy to talk to anyone at a reasonable time via phone or email. I will also be available at regular surgeries, details of which are above and will be publicised locally.
I am involved with:
- the local TRY (Transition Richmond Yorkshire) group who help with the up keep of a number of the community gardens
- Richmond Meet
- Have been a school governor
- Long member of FORMS (Friends of Richmond Methodist School) including being chair for a period of time
- Richmond Town Councillor
