I do not hold regular surgeries, but I am available to be contacted via the details above at any reasonable time.
I represent the parishes of Leyburn & Harmby, a total population of over 2000. Leyburn is a thriving market town in Lower Wensleydale with a large variety of hardworking businesses. Tourism plays a big part in the life of the town, with annual events such as the Food & Drink Festival, 40's weekend and the Wensleydale Agricultural Show. Leyburn also has a weekly market on Fridays and an auction mart.
Harmby is a pleasant residential village nearby with a village hall, playing fields, a children's play area and excellent views of the Dale.
My husband, Philip and I retired to Spennithorne in 2006. We previously lived in West Yorkshire and have four children and five grandchildren. Most of my working life has been in education - working with children with special needs, mentoring and engaging parents and children within the whole local community. In retirement I have been able to get involved with singing groups, learning to play the flute and I have discovered a passion for keeping chickens!
I look forward to developing my role as a District Councillor. I feel it is an exciting opportunity to give something back to the community. I am on Audit, Governance and Standards Committee and Overview & Scrutiny Committee 2. I have also been asked to represent the District Council on the NYCC Scrutiny of Health Committee.
In my spare time I am involved with the Dales Food & Drink Festival, Foxglove Covert Nature Reserve, Wensleydale Tournament of Song, Swaledale Music Festival and I sing with the Hunton Ladies Choir. I am also on the Commitee of the Wensleydale Agricultural Show.
