Standards Committee
The Council’s Standards Committee is responsible for promoting
and maintaining high standards of conduct by councillors and
assisting councillors to observe the members Code of Conduct.
The Committee also considers and hears complaints from the
public about the conduct of elected members of both Parish and
District Councils and may impose sanctions upon members if those
complaints are upheld. The Committee has established three sub
committees to deal with complaints.
The Committee is comprised of District Councillors, Parish
Councillors and members of the public who have been appointed to
sit on the Committee. The members of the public are referred to as
"independent members".
The Committee has four scheduled meetings in the year and then
holds additional meetings to consider any complaints that are
referred to it. Please click
