Councillors on Scrutiny Committees are able to look into any topics and issues that affect the wellbeing of the residents of the district and by looking closely at a subject can make recommendations for improvements. They look internally at the workings of the council together with its policies, strategies and performance around council services and also at external authorities and agencies providing ‘critical friend’ challenge.
