The Electoral Registration Officer makes and keeps two versions
of the electoral register - the full register and the edited
register. See Full and Edited Versions Explained for further
information.
In accordance with the Representation of the People Acts, any
application to be registered as an elector is subject to public
inspection to allow for objection to the application to be made. At
the end of this period of public inspection (if no objection has
been received) the applicant may be added to the Voters' List on
the 1st day of the month. Applications must be determined by the
Electoral Registration Officer by 14 days before the end of the
month (exclusive of a 5 day period for receipt of objections) in
order for the applicant to be added to the Voters' List on the 1st
day of the next month. Those applications determined after 14 days
before the end of the month will be delayed for inclusion in the
Voters' List until the 1st day of the following month. Please note
that in the "run-up" to an Election you will only be able to vote
at that Election if your name has been added to the Voters' List
before the last day for delivery of Nomination Papers for the
Election.
We will also tell the Electoral Registration Officer for your
old address that you have moved, so that your name can be removed
from that register. People who live at two homes (including
students) are allowed to register at both. If you do not want to be
removed from your other address, please explain why on your
form.
