Richmondshire District Council provides access to grant funding for both businesses and communities through the Business & Community Team. The team is responsible for administering several funding schemes through the council, disseminating information regarding external funding sources and supporting local organisations in gaining grant support, where possible. Current Funding Schemes 2017-18

 

The Social Fund 

The Social Fund is designed to support specific community schemes or activities taking place within one of the district's five growth areas of Colburn, Hipswell, Leyburn, Richmond and Scotton. Applications should be within the £7,500 to £50,000 bracket with applicants expected to raise 70% of the project's cost. The council has £270,000 to allocate from this scheme. The Small Business Grant Scheme

The Small Business Grant Scheme opens for applications for the fifth time on 1st November 2017, with a pot of £30,000 to allocate to local businesses which met the scheme's criteria. Applications were made for purchases which will generate further income or increase employment opportunities for the business and included the purchase of IT equipment, websites, marketing and promotion, business specific equipment however it cannot fund any general day to day running costs. Closed Funding Schemes

The Economic Growth Fund

UPDATE - Due to the large number of applications received into the fund, we are not accepting applications at this time. Should this change in the future an update will be available here. For further information regarding this please contact Samantha Coultish via 01748 901037.

The Economic Growth Fund has a pot of £300,000 and will support initiatives which aim to achieve growth in the district's economy through commercial activity. It could be used for things such as capital works, business expansion projects, training or consultancy costs, feasibility studies or other costs associated with enabling organisations and in turn the local economy to grow - with grants from £4,000 to £100,000 available. Richmondshire Area Partnership Fund 

UPDATE - The Richmondshire Area Partnership Funding Scheme 2017-18 has closed. Should this scheme re-open for applications in the future, further information will be placed here.

Richmondshire District Council has approved an allocation of £50,000 to allow the Richmondshire Area Partnerships £10,000 each to award to small community projects in Richmondshire. The application form and criteria can be downloaded on the link below:

The scheme will support community activities and projects including sports groups, parish councils and local village halls.

Richmondshire Economic Action Plan 2016-2020

Adopted in June 2016, the Richmondshire Economic Action Plan identifies the priority areas the Council believes need to be addressed to deliver economic growth and the specific actions that we will take to achieve our identified outcomes. The identified key priorities are:

  • Enabling Opportunities for Growth
  • Supporting Local Businesses and Tourism
  • Improving Connectivity
  • Advocate for district economic growth

Some of our grant schemes require some level of match funding, ranging from 25 % to 70% (please refer to individual grant scheme criteria for more information). Quarterly Newsletters

On a quarterly basis, the Business & Community team produce a funding & grants newsletter which highlights the various schemes open and operated through RDC and external grants which community groups/businesses and residents can apply for. Statutory Grants to External Bodies

Richmondshire District Council also supports the work of the Citizens Advice Bureau and Wheels2Work through an annual grant payment in support of the work they do for residents in the Richmondshire district area.
