Culture and Community Wellbeing
What do we mean by 'Culture and Wellbeing'?
We all have our own ideas of what culture and wellbeing might mean. It has often been associated with ballet, theatre, museums and health but in Richmondshire it includes a very wide range of everyday activity.
Leisure and sports development are delivered via Richmondshire Leisure Trust.
For us, culture and wellbeing includes all of the following activity:
Archives, characteristic design and building, choirs and bands, clothing and fashion, Countryside pursuits, creative industries, customs & traditions, film, television & radio, food and drink, historic environment, History and memory, landscape and nature, Language & dialect, Libraries, Museums & galleries, music, night-life, performing arts, play, reading, health, spirituality and beliefs, sports, tourism, visual arts, writing and storytelling.
In order to support the development of culture in Richmondshire, we have developed a range of strategies to deliver working in partnership with a number of organisations including the local Play Partnership, the Community Sports Network, Arts/Culture Network, Museums Network, Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group and Area Partnerships.
