We have recently undertaken two rounds of public consultation on BT’s proposed programme of public payphone removals.

Having compiled the responses received in the first phase of
the consultation, we produced a draft decision notice regarding the
proposed removals, and asked for additional comments.
The second phase of consultation ended on August 27, 2008. We
have now published our final notification and sent it to the
Secretary of State and BT. It objects to the removal of 24 phone
boxes (the four that we have not objected to are marked above with
an asterisk).
